From Honduran fincas to Australian roasters.

Balam connects Honduran microlot farmers with Australia’s specialty coffee community.

Named after the Mayan word for jaguar, a symbol of strength and guardianship, Balam represents the landscapes where our coffees grow and the farmers who cultivate them.

Balam is proudly Catracho!

Coffee has always been part of life back home in Honduras - there’s joy in a simple black cup shared with family and friends.

After moving to Sydney and working in cafés, we discovered Australia’s deep appreciation for exceptional coffee. That experience sparked the idea for Balam.

Founded by Hondurans, Balam exists to build a bridge between these two worlds, bringing the work, passion, and craft of Honduran farmers closer to the Australian coffee community.

The Fincas

Finca Coros

Founded in 1963, Finca Coros began with Don Alejandro’s belief that great coffee should carry the character of the Honduran mountains. Half a century later, the next generation of his family continues that pursuit - growing coffee that reflects both land and craft. Honouring his legacy and steadily elevating its profile through modern and ethical farming practices, rooted in passion and care.
